Exercise and diet alone may help some individuals reach weight goals, however, it may not completely eliminate fat deposits or remove loose skin. WHAT AREAS DOES A BODY LIFT TARGET?

Lower body lift:

  • Abdomen
  • Hips
  • Waist
  • Back
  • Buttocks
  • Thighs

Upper body lift:

  • Skin Rolls
  • Arms
  • Chest

Some individuals may be more prone to put on weight around the stomach, and depending on the individual, this may be the place to start for body contouring. Depending on individual body shape, it is possible that extra fat has also accumulated around the lower back, hips, buttocks, and thighs. A lower body lift may target these areas. However, each patient is individual, and some patients may accumulate a larger amount of fatty tissue on the arms and chest. Complete body contouring can involve a body lift for any area from head to toe, potentially resulting in a more consistent appearance.

THE CONSULTATION

Dr Laniewski will meet with patients in person to discuss their individual surgery goals and expectations. This is the time to reveal any concerns regarding the body lift procedure, and patients will also be asked to provide health information including smoking status, plus use of medications and other drugs that may affect surgery outcomes.

MALE BODY LIFT SURGERY

The operation is performed under general anaesthesia, meaning patients will be asleep during the procedure. It will generally take several hours to perform the surgery, and incisions will be made in order to elevate and reposition skin. Underlying muscles may also be tightened as part of the procedure. Drains will be positioned to assist with the removal of fluid accumulation beneath the incisions. Sterile dressings are placed over the incisions and compression garments are worn to assist with the healing process.

The hospital stay may last a couple of days, and the patient’s situation will be monitored. Complications are not common, but there may be some swelling, bruising and pain that can be treated with appropriate medication.

AFTER OPERATION CARE

Some patients may not be fully recovered when leaving hospital, but most patients will be well recovered within a few weeks. Patients will require someone to drive them home from hospital, and also need to restrict movement for several weeks during the healing process. Patient recovery at home should be comfortable, without any strenuous activity, exercise, or extended stretching. As swelling subsides, patients should be able to see their results more clearly.
