BROW PLASTY (BROW LIFT)

The natural effects of aging change the appearance of the face, which for some people may
cause the brow to descend and may also affect the appearance of the eyes.

A brow lift, also known as a forehead lift or Brow Plasty is a surgical solution that addresses
the age-induced effects on the appearance of the brow.A brow lift will not remove wrinkles
on the forehead, as these are the result of actions of the muscles in the forehead.

A prominent and drooping brow can be the result of genetics, active forehead muscles,
stress, and exposure to environmental factors such as harsh sunlight.

A brow lift will alter facial appearance in a number of ways, including:

  • Reducing horizontal wrinkle lines on the forehead
  • Improving and reducing frown lines between the eyebrows
  • Removing lines from the bridge of the nose
  • Raising hooded and sagging skin above the eyelids

Brow Lift Surgery – Dr Peter Laniewski

BROW LIFT PROCEDURES

The procedure of choice is an endoscopic brow lift.

An endoscopic lift involves the surgeon making a series of shorter cuts in the scalp at the
hairline. A miniature camera is then inserted. This will help your surgeon to visually
determine the areas where the brow needs lifting. Small anchors are put in place to secure
the underlying brow tissue and achieve a smooth outer-skin surface. The operation is
performed under general anaesthetic and will take two to three hours. You will need
someone to drive you home once you have recovered from the anaesthetic.

YOUR CONSULTATION

Dr Laniewski i is among the most experienced Plastic Surgeons in Sydney and surrounding areas. Facial reconstruction is one of his specialities. In Dr Laniewski’s hands, your desired
brow lift outcome is achieved. He will discuss your expectations and evaluate your forehead
and other facial features during your consultation. Every face is unique, and Dr Laniewski’s
experience in understanding the underlying facial structure is an invaluable factor in
achieving your desired outcome.

A brow lift can be a stand-alone surgery. A brow lift can also be performed alongside a face
lift (rhytidectomy), neck lift (platysmaplasty), or eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty). Dermal filler injections can also assist in achieving your desired outcome. A brow lift is a good option for anyone in good physical health. Smokers will need to cease for a few weeks before and after surgery, as smoking can inhibit healing and lead to an increased potential for infection.

How much does a brow lift cost?

The costs of a brow lift vary depending on a number of factors. One of the primary factors
impacting procedure cost is the degree of adjustment that will be needed. Another factor is
the surgical method Dr Laniewski uses.

The cost of your brow lift will include the surgeon and assistant surgeon’s fees, along with
fees for the anaesthetist and the operating theatre.

If you combine procedures and treatments, you will see an increase in your initial estimated
costs. This is why it is important to consult with Dr Laniewski to get a good understanding as
to the types of procedures that can achieve your desired outcomes

RECOVERING AFTER A BROW LIFT

You will initially return home to recover with your forehead taped or bandaged to reduce
bruising and swelling.

Post operative LED Light Therapy is strongly recommended to decrease your downtime and
accelerate the healing process immediately after your surgery. The treatment is convenient
and can be combined with your post operative visits. Lasting only 13 minutes and completely
painless, LED Light Therapy is clinically proven to dramatically reduce the swelling and
bruising that can occur after your surgery. Please speak to Dr Laniewski or one of his
consultants to book in your treatment.

Instructions your surgeon provides for recovery can include prescribed medications for
healing and pain relief, care for the surgical site and any follow up expectations. Your head
should remain elevated during the initial recovery period.

A cold compress is an invaluable aid in stifling headaches or discomfort.

The initial incision will take a few weeks to fully heal. Any numbness, swelling or bruising will diminish during this time. You will be able to return to work typically within two weeks, or whenever comfortable and without undue movement if you are working from home. You may
apply cosmetics while you continue to heal.

Healing should be steady and progressive, but it may take a few months before you have
completely recovered and your incision lines have reached their final appearance

FAQS

Am I a candidate for a brow lift?

Appropriate candidates for a brow lift are individuals whose brow has started to descend.

How long will brow lift results last?

The results of a brow lift are semi-permanent, and will last for seven to ten years. How long

maintain your desired outcome
