What is a facial fat transfer?
Facial fat transfer is the process of removing unwanted fat from one part of the body and transferring it to areas of the face where volume has been lost. This technique is highly effective in volumising and shaping the skin around the eyes, jawline and cheeks. It can also be injected into the lips, eyebrows, nose or anywhere else under the skin.
The facial fat grafting procedure is performed through the following steps:
Fat removal:
A small amount of excess fat is removed, usually from the buttocks or thighs, through liposuction with a small narrow cannula.
Fat cell isolation:
Once removed, the fat cells are separated from any surrounding liquid. Any damaged cells are removed, ensuring that only clean and healthy fat cells are used in the transfer.
Fat injection:
Dr Laniewski will then inject the fat into the designated facial areas in order to achieve optimum results for facial rejuvenation.

Recovery information
The facial fat transfer procedure is not overly invasive, and many patients find that they require only minimal downtime afterwards. While there will be some swelling or bruising following the procedure, this will subside within a few days and Dr Laniewski will prescribe medication to ease any pain. You will need to take some time off work to rest, however most patients are able to return to their normal activities within a week.
