Mole Removal Photos

A mole is a common, non-cancerous skin lesion. While moles are usually harmless, they can be a cosmetic nuisance, depending on its size and location. However, some patients worry that their moles could change or become cancerous over time. In such cases, Dr Laniewski offers mole removal to eliminate the growth and create a clearer appearance. If you are considering mole removal, take a look at Dr Laniewski’s before and after photos to see if his work appeals to you.

Mole removal techniques

Moles can be removed from the skin using a number of techniques, including:

Removal by shaving
With this technique, Dr Laniewski will take a scalpel to shave the mole off, either flush or slightly below the level of skin. He will then use an instrument to cauterise the area in order to prevent bleeding or infection.

Removal by excision
Sometimes a mole will need to be cut from the skin. Dr Laniewski will map out the mole, clean the area and numb the skin. He will then use a scalpel to cut the mole and the surrounding skin. Depending on the depth of the mole, stitches will be place either deep into the skin, or on the skin’s upper surface.

Removal by dry ice
Moles can also be removed using a liquid nitrogen (dry ice) spray, which freezes the growth. The mole is then covered with a band aid and will naturally drop off within a few days, leaving behind more even skin and a tiny scar.

Candidates for mole removal

If you find that your mole is a cosmetic nuisance, interferes with shaving and causes discomfort or irritation, or if you fear that it may become malignant in the future, you may be a candidate for mole removal. Contact Dr Laniewski’s clinic in Sydney to determine whether you are the ideal candidate for this procedure.

Recovery information

Mole removal typically has little recovery time and you should be able to leave the clinic immediately afterwards. You may find that the removal site is sore and swollen for a couple of days and should protect the area from sun exposure for several weeks to ensure full healing and prevent scarring. Follow-up visits usually aren’t required, unless stitches need to be removed.
