The nose is a dominant feature of the face, one that plays a key role in making the face look balanced and in proportion. If you feel that your nose is too big for your face, even the slightest change can make a dramatic difference. Considering rhinoplasty to change the shape and size of your nose? Take a look at Dr Laniewski’s before and after rhinoplasty photos to see if his work appeals to you.
What is rhinoplasty?
Nose job surgery, otherwise known as rhinoplasty, is a surgical procedure designed to reshape or repair the nose by improving its appearance and/or function. A rhinoplasty procedure can:
- Straighten a crooked nose
- Make the nose appear more symmetrical
- Make the nose smaller or larger
- Improve the nose profile by removing visible humps or depressions
- Improve a large, drooping or hooked nasal tip
- Repair damage caused by injury or disease
- Open up nasal passages and improve breathing
This procedure is performed through the following steps:
Incisions: Rhinoplasty can be performed through a closed procedure, where incisions are made inside the nose, or through an open procedure, where an incision is made in the narrow strip of tissue that separates the nostrils. The skin that covers the nasal bones and cartilages is then gently raised so that Dr Laniewski can reshape the structure of the nose.
Reshaping the nose structure: Dr Laniewski will usually reshape the nose by removing bone or cartilage. If you have a deviated septum, this will be straightened to improve breathing.
Closing the incisions: Once the desired shape has been achieved, Dr Laniewski will redrape the nasal skin and tissue and close the incisions.
Rhinoplasty Candidates
If you are concerned by the shape, size or proportion of your nose, or experience impaired breathing due to structural defects, you may be a candidate for rhinoplasty. Contact Dr Laniewski’s clinic in Sydney to organise a consultation to determine whether you are the ideal candidate for this procedure.
Recovery details
Following your nose job surgery, Dr Laniewski will place a splint inside your nose to support and protect your new nose structures during your initial healing. You will experience some swelling and bruising around the eyes, however this should improve within two weeks. Keep in mind that it may take up to a year for your new nasal contour to fully appear.
Dr Laniewski will give you specific instructions regarding post-operative care and will let you know when you will be fit to return to your regular activities.
